Scripture Union Australia (SUA) is a joint body constituted by all the State and Territory Scripture Union movements in Australia.

Our Aims

Working with the churches, Scripture Union aims

  1. to make God’s Good News known to children, young people and families, and
  2. to encourage people of all ages to meet God daily through reading the Bible and prayer,

so that they may come to personal faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, grow in Christian maturity and become both committed church members and servants of a world in need.

Scripture Union pursues these aims through a variety of specialist ministries around the world in obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ and in reliance on the Holy Spirit. We uphold the international Statement of Belief and the Working Principles which unite all members of the Scripture Union family across the globe.

Our Mission Statement

In Australia our particular mission statement reads “Introducing Young Australians to Jesus, the Bible and the local church”. This simple statement reflects the strong emphasis on discipling young people, children and families to be effective followers of Jesus Christ as well as the role we play as partners of the local church. Our particular focus is on establishing followers of Jesus and supporting them in transformative engagement with the Word of God.

Our Governance

Scripture Union operates as separate but affiliated movements in each Australian State and Territory. Each movement is committed to serving the spiritual needs of children, young people and families in its own unique way. Scripture Union Australia (SUA) has been constituted as a collaborative body to give national expression to the commonly held vision of each affiliated State and Territory movement as well as facilitate collaboration and co-operation among the Australian movements.
