Isabelle discovers a different story – a story of God’s love

Across Australia your support is creating opportunities to partner with and through organisations like Prison Fellowship so more children, young people and their families can discover life.

As the end of this financial year draws near, we’re inviting our SU Australia family of supporters to help keep this vital work going – and growing – to impact more communities with God’s love, life and purpose.

SU Australia partners with Prison Fellowship to run Camp Breakaway at Geographe Bay. This camp gives children suffering the stress and heartache of having a family member in prison, an opportunity to experience a different story to the one they know.

Your support makes these initiatives possible.

“Camp Breakaway is an awesome camp for young people, who have a parent incarcerated, to just enjoy being a kid. It’s three days of surfing, ziplining, mountain climbing, and making friends with other young people who are going through the same challenges,” says At Risk Camping / Ministry Coordinator, Mel Wahl.

Beyond the action-packed week of activities, each camper is given opportunities to experience a different story to the one they know in life – the story of God’s love for them and their families.

For one young camper, Isabelle*, she left camp knowing she was loved, and that her life had meaning and purpose.

“[I know God] will always love me… He’s my BFF [best friend forever].”

I loved camp! I had the confidence to talk about my testimony and built more confidence to try new things. Loved hearing other people’s testimony,” she says.

As it says in Ecclesiastes 4:12, “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken”. Through your partnership with SU Australia, and through our partnerships with organisations like Prison Fellowship, who share our heart for children and young people in need, more young people are discovering life in God’s big story.

Help keep this vital work going and donate to our Discovering Life Appeal before 30 June via the donation links below.

To protect the identity of our Breakaway campers, no photographs are taken on camp. The featured image included is not of Isabelle and was not taken on Camp Breakaway – but another SU Australia camp.
